Upcoming Officials Training

Officials are critical to every swim meet as they are there to see that every swimmer gets to compete on the same level playing field/pool as all of the other competitors. . We need quality officials, and we need them in quantity, so please consider becoming an official!

Officials Training (these date/locations are also on our website team calendar):

All classes will begin with Stroke and Turn training from 6 - 7:30pm, Referee/Starter/CJ training will follow for ~ 1 hour - out around 8:30pm!

  • Thursday June 1 - @ Talbot YMCA, Easton, MD

  • Tuesday June 6 - @ Washington College, Chestertown, MD

  • Thursday June 8 - @ Sea Colony Fitness Center, Bethany Beach, DE

  • Tuesday June 13 - @ Henson Family Y, Salisbury, MD

  • Wednesday June 14 - ZOOM - Be prepared to email us after the Zoom to get credit for attending. Here is the link for the Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81894605986?pwd=MzZBUkdoRWV1Q25GZFFNRXNlOGpNUT09

  • Thursday June 15 - @ Dover Y, Dover, DE Any current official accredited by USA Swimming, the YMCA, or their High School system is excused from this training (please email us a current copy of your certification card/page/etc. to spiritswimparents@gmail.com). Every team is required to have at least 2 certified officials on their team (at least 4 is highly recommend). Failure to comply is a By-Laws violation. Anyone who is not currently certified, is required to take this class, even if they took it last year. We will discuss many rule changes since that time. High School officials may find it beneficial to attend as their rules are slightly different from USA Swimming and that is the Rulebook we follow, per our by-laws (NFHS is often slow to make changes, some of the newest rule changes have not yet been adopted for High School Swimming!). Updated our Ref/Starter/CJ Procedures on the DSA website. Those staying the last hour of training should be familiar with these procedures.
